Earlier this day, after my mishap at the expressway when the bus broke down and I’d have to be late, me and my classmates had to report about time travelling for our contemporary metaphysics class.
Now, all you scientific geniuses think that metaphysics doesn’t pass for the verification principle, as much as the humanities doesn’t. Well, I guess you could be right to think that propositions such as 1) The nothing that nothings, or 2) The other othering itself are absurd. I guess you could put it that way, but there are instances like the notion of time does speak about the world. Contemporary metaphysics talks about the fundamental nature of reality, and consequently explains such topics about the self, properties, dispositions, and time, specifically whether time is possible without change or not. So, metaphysics does talk about the world in relation to scientific theories like the Einstein-Rosen bridge and some theories from Kip Thorne and Hawkings.
I read the reading for our report just this morning as I was going to school and it was such a hassle because, as I’ve said, the bus broke down and… UGH.. It was so stressful. I haven’t even read Lewis’s Paradoxes of Time Travel. I wish I had. If you’re interested you could read up on the A theory and B theory of time, and their response to the Grandfather paradox (that if time travel is possible could you have changed the past?)
